Jom pi Sarawak-Gawea Sowa 2007

By unknown

Gawea Sowa of Gawai-Original Bidayuh-Jagoi Festival that celebrates the rice harvest. Held to thank Eiang Podi (a supernatural being that looks after the rice gain) for the harvest, to appease the souls of the rice grain and to invite the souls of our ancestors to come down and celebrate the harvest. Though now in decline and extinct in most other Bidayuh communities, the Bau-Jagoi people still try to celebrate it annually. It is also the best street party this side of Borneo.

Each village has it's own ritual, caught with shamen, priestesses, trances, dances, musicians and of course all night long.
Let's party in Sarawak with all the Tuak....
